My Top 10 Favorite Y.A. Novels

Honestly, this is one of the hardest lists I’ve ever created.  It’s not in any order, but I did put a lot of thought into my choices.  In fact, I even started thinking that maybe I should have listed my top 15 or 20…

Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson
I read this novel for my college Young Adult Lit class, and it is the reason I am in love with Y.A. novels.

Crank by Ellen Hopkins
This novel is unlike any other I’ve ever read.  Ellen Hopkins is an important voice for our teenagers.

Th1rteen R3asons Why by Jay Asher
I couldn’t put this down, and all I kept thinking is that EVERYONE needs to read this!

Twilight by Stephanie Meyer
Do I really need to explain this one?!

Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist by Rachel Cohn & David Levithan
This author duo is like magic.  I couldn’t get enough of Nick and Norah; they are completely original characters living through an incredible night.

Someone Like You by Sarah Dessen
This is her first novel that I read.  Sarah Dessen really understands how to create a strong female protagonist without making them overly girly.  This is an excellent and rich novel that was hard to put down.

The Mortal Instruments series by Cassandra Clare
So yeah that’s technically three books, but the whole series rocks!  Plus this is my blog so I can break the rules  🙂  It has the perfect combination of romance, mystery and action.

The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins
Again, do I have to ask?!  I mean this is the most awesome dystopian novel I’ve ever read!  Katniss is the toughest female character out there and Peeta is simply wonderful.

Looking for Alaska by John Green
John Green develops characters in a way like no one else.  Pudge is so funny and awkward and awesome.  Plus the setting made me nostalgic for college 🙂

The Notebook by Nicholas Sparks
I know this isn’t published as Y.A., but I still count it because it’s a high interest read for teens.  I don’t know if I’ve ever read anything so romantic before either.  I just had to include it on the list.

What books made it to your Top 10?

I love comments!
