In My Mailbox (3)

In My Mailbox is a weekly meme sponsored by The Story Siren.  It’s a way for bloggers to share what books they’ve received for review, borrowed from the library, or bought from the store.

I have quite the hodgepodge of books this week 🙂  I’m still working on Num8ers, one of the books I highlighted for IMM last week, because I’m having a hard time getting into it.  If you’ve read it, what did you think?

Bought for Review:

The Sky is Everywhere by Jandy Nelson.  Two of my students have told me I MUST read this.  Both of them said it’s the best book they’ve read.  It’s also on my list for 2010 Debut Authors, so I bought it! 😀

Bought for Book Club:

I have a book club that I keep with my students at school and also with my former students.  **Side Note: My former students approached ME about having a book club with them!  Isn’t that awesome?!**  Anyway, we meet in person and also have book discussions here.  My former students and I met up and decided to read It’s Kind of a Funny Story by Ned Vizzini.  It’s coming out as a movie soon, so maybe we’ll go see it!

Bought to Replace a Missing Copy…:

Sigh… I don’t lose too many books from my shelf each year, but when I lose a popular one like Crank, I get pretty upset.  I tried everything to get my copy back, but it just didn’t happen.  So I had to buy a new copy because Banned Books Week is coming up, and my freshmen have discovered Ellen Hopkins.  Three of my 1st hour students are reading her books, and they’ve been asking about Crank.

I told you it’s a hodgepodge this week! 😛  What did you receive?  Happy Reading everyone!
