In My Mailbox (6)

In My Mailbox is a weekly meme sponsored by The Story Siren.  It’s a way for bloggers to share what books they’ve received for review, borrowed from the library, or bought from the store.

This was a great week for books!

Books I Bought:

The Dark Days of Hamburger Halpin by Josh Berk – This is on my 2010 Debut Author Challenge list and I’ve been searching for it EVERYWHERE.  I finally had to order a copy.  I’m about half-way through it and am really enjoying it 🙂

Girl, Stolen by April Henry- First, I love the cover!  I started this one too, and it’s going to be a great read!  I can’t wait to tell my students about this one.

Books Given to Me:

What My Girlfriend Doesn’t Know by Sonya Sones- My student, Tristan, bought this for me!  I’ve read Sones’ other two books in verse, but I haven’t had a chance to read this one yet.  Tristan, you’re wonderful!  Thank you 🙂

Living Dead Girl by Elizabeth Scott- During Banned Books Week I wrote a post about LDG and why it should be read.  I linked it on Twitter hoping Elizabeth would read it and she did!  She sent me a message thanking me and I told her how immensely popular it is with my students.  After hearing this, she offered to send me some copies and I accepted her gracious offer.  Oh my gosh!!  She sent me four copies!!!  My students and I were incredibly excited when they showed up at school.  Tomorrow when I’m at work I’ll take a picture of the copies I still have on my shelf.  Even with the extra copies, it’s hard to keep them all available.   Thank  you, again, Elizabeth!  You are an amazing person! 😀

  1. Living Dead Girl is so good yet so touching! I liked Elizabeth Scott’s take on that. Have a great week! 🙂

  2. Girl Stolen, it’s part of the Contempts challenge, right?:) Happy reading!

  3. You got some great books this week. I love Sonya Sones! I hope she puts out a new book soon. If it isn’t one of the 2 that you have already read, you should also check out Stop Pretending.

That is awesome that Elizabeth sent you copies of her novels. Congratulations!

    • Mrs. Andersen says:

Thank you for the Sonya Sones recommendation 🙂 I haven’t read that one yet. My students can’t get enough of her books, so I’ll have to find a copy of that one.

  4. Tristan Bishop says:

    Awhh, thanks Mrs. Andersen! (:

  5. Awesome list this week! I loved Girl, Stolen, and Living Dead Girl remains a favorite…a very difficult read, but an incredible one nonetheless!

  6. Ohhh, I haven’t read that latest Sonya Sones book! Very jealous. I def. need to get a copy. I enjoyed the others.

    Have a great reading week!

I love comments!
