In My Mailbox (14)

In My Mailbox is a weekly meme sponsored by The Story Siren.  It’s a way for bloggers to share what books they’ve received for review, borrowed from the library, or bought from the store.

Received for review:

I requested a copy of Wildefire by Karsten Knight from Simon & Schuster.  Karsten is a 2011 debut author and his book doesn’t come out until July, but I’ve already been hearing great reviews (mostly from Kiersten White on Twitter).

Received from fellow bloggers/teachers:

Heidi at YA Bibliophile LOVED The Demon’s Lexicon by Sarah Rees Brennan, so she spread the love by offering to mail copies to fellow bloggers.  My copy came the other day 🙂  This is in our school library, and I’ve been wanting a copy since hearing great things at a YA conference last year.  I haven’t been able to get myself a copy, so I was thankful and excited that Heidi offered to send one!

Paul W. Hankins of RAW INK online (and extraordinary teacher!) sent me an ARC of Shine by Lauren Myracle.  I’m almost done with it; it’s utterly fantastic.

Patrick Jones is visiting my YA Lit class on April 18th, so I bought two of his books, Cheated and Nailed.  I have Things Change and The Tear Collector already, but I want my students to have a variety of his books to choose from and read before he visits.  I’ll definitely post about his visit, so check back in April 🙂

Kelly at Stacked recommended that I read Scrawl by Mark Schulman.  After reading the synopsis, I had to have it!  I couldn’t find it at any of our local book stores, so I ordered myself a copy along with the Patrick Jones books.

  1. Great stuff this week, congrats! And am jealous that Patrick Jones is visiting you…definitely give us the highlights after the visit! Have a great week.

  2. I have heard such great things about SHINE, and as I have yet to read any Lauren Myracle, it seems like a great place to start. =) Happy reading!

    My IMM:

  3. Do you know how jealous I am that you have Wildefire? It sounds so dang good. Great IMM this week!

p.s. Sorry I have been absent from your blog! I have been busy and haven’t had the time to drop by and leave pointless little comments on every post =/ I’ll try harder though!!!

    • Mrs. Andersen says:

First- Don’t be jealous about Wildefire! You know I’ll let you borrow it 🙂

Second- No need to apologize. I’ve been busy too, and haven’t been able to check out your blog either. And I love your comments; they’re not pointless!

      • I know you will =] I just can’t help but be jealous. And I also know you’re busy, a lot busier than me so I understand! Glad you like my comments though. Sometimes I feel like I comment-attack a few blogs. I should start broadening my horizons.

        • Mrs. Andersen says:

Nothing wrong with broadening your horizons OR commenting on the same blogs all the time. I LOVE comments 🙂

  4. Great book week!! Wildefire looks fascinating! Enjoy!

  5. Wildefire? Woah! I read the query letter for that one on another blog. Didn’t know it was out yet but hey, it looked pretty awesome! Plus, you’ve got the Demon’s Lexicon. I’ve heard such wonderful things about Sarah Rees Brennan and her short story in Kiss Me Deadly was pretty funny. Looks like you’ve got a wonderful week ahead of you :). Happy reading!!

I love comments!
