In My Mailbox is a weekly meme sponsored by The Story Siren. It’s a way for bloggers to share what books they’ve received for review, borrowed from the library, or bought from the store.
Received for review:
A Need So Beautiful by Suzanne Young (Goodreads): I won this ARC through Goodreads! I’ve never won any of their giveaways, so I was excited. I just finished this book and it’s wonderful!
Never Eighteen by Megan Bostic (Goodreads): Megan is the first 2012 debut author to sign up for Students Want to Know next year
Bought for memoir unit:
A Long Way Gone: Memoirs of a Boy Soldier by Ishmael Beah (Goodreads): We’re working on our memoir unit for English 9 and we’d like to add something current. I looked up memoirs for teens and found this one. I’ve been told it’s a tough read, but a worthwhile read.
Life Is So Good by George Dawson, Richard Glaubman (Goodreads): This was recommended by a teacher I follow on Twitter who has taught it for three years. It’s about a man who learned to read when he was 98!! I’m really looking forward to this one.
Bought because, you know, I love books:
Imaginary Girls by Nova Ren Suma (Goodreads)
Hourglass by Myra McEntire (Goodreads)
The Marbury Lens by Andrew Smith (Goodreads)

Congrats on your Goodreads giveaway win! I’ve heard a lot of good things about A Need So Beautiful. Glad you enjoyed it.
Looking forward to seeing what you think of The Marbury Lens. I don’t know much about that one. All of your other books look intriguing as well. Happy reading!
Imaginary Girls looks so good! You’ve got an awesome mailbox this week! I hope you enjoy them! Here’s My IMM if you get the chance to check it out! Happy reading!

A Need so Beautiful looks so good.
Enjoy all your books!
I really enjoyed Hourglass; I mean, really, really enjoyed it.
I hope you like Life Is So Good as much as I did. I taught regular 11 for years and years and needed a book to connect with my kids, a book that told them it was okay to be who they are. They LOVED it! They connected with George on so many levels. When I started teaching AP Language I kept it because our focus in nonfiction. Those kids love it as well. They find it refreshing and hopeful. They love George, a man who has not bitterness in his soul because “that’s just the way it was.”
Enjoy!
