Top Ten Tuesday: My Favorite Books of 2013

Top Ten Tuesday

Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by The Broke and The Bookish

Normally I write out reasons why I’m including each book on this list, but I’ve reviewed these books and mentioned them on so many lists that I feel like it’s not really necessary at this point. But believe me, creating this list was HARD. At the end of every year I feel like I haven’t read enough books, nor enough books that really wowed me. Do any of you feel that way at this time of year? I guess I’m not reading to be wowed, but I certainly like discovering new favorites. The books on this list are here because they’ve stayed with me this year (characters, plot, writing style, twists, etc.). I’d love to know which books are you favorites this year!

My favorite books of 2013 in no particular order…

1. Wild Awake by Hilary T. Smith (My review)

2. Winger by Andrew Smith (My review)

3. Where the Stars Still Shine by Trish Doller (My review)

4. Golden by Jessi Kirby (My review)

5. Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell (My review)

6. Rapture Practice by Aaron Hartzler (My review)

7. I’m With Stupid by Geoff Herbach (My review)

8. Out of the Easy by Ruta Sepetys (My review)

9. The Promise of Amazing by Robin Constantine (My review)

10. Dead Silence by Kimberly Derting (My review)

My favorite backlist titles read in 2013 (I couldn’t help but cheat)…

1. One for the Murphys by Lynda Mullaly Hunt (My review)

2. Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe by Benjamin Alire Sáenz (My review)

3. Recovery Road by Blake Nelson

4. Jumping Off Swings by Jo Knowles

5. The Help by Kathryn Stockett

  1. I love your lists because I so often agree with your reviews–our reading tastes must be similar. (Hmmm…maybe I should have you recommend movies, too?) 🙂 Thanks for continuing to keep up a great blog! Happy New Year and the best in 2014

  2. Great list! I loved seeing OUT OF THE EASY on your list. It reminded me that I totally should have put it on my list of favorites. I think maybe I forgot to put it on my list because I read it in 2012 and didn’t look back that far on my Goodreads list.

And yay for Aristotle and Dante. I can’t even explain how much I love that book.

  3. We have some choices in common! I really wanted to read Wild Awake and Aristotle and Dante this year, but that has not happened yet. I also want to read The Help and Recovery Road at some point. Excellent list!

  4. I had a hard time with my list this year. I didn’t feel as if I read many good books despite my 40+ books read. I decided that my one favorite for the year is The One and Only Ivan by Katherine Applegate. I loved The Help!
Also, I am going to have to read Eleanor and Park as soon as I can get my hands on it. There is talk about that book everywhere!

    Happy reading in 2014!

  5. The Help is one of my all time favorite books. I actually just watched the movie last week and it was also really good! And Golden is sooo good, too! I really have to read Eleanor & Park I loved Fangirl from that author! Great list! 🙂

  6. Great list. You’ve got some really amazing books on your list – I LOVE The Help, such a beautiful book! I need to read some Rainbow Rowell, haven’t heard anything bad about her books yet! Happy New Year 🙂 My TTT.

  7. Yay for Eleanor & Park <3 I'm so glad to see that I wasn't the only one that enjoyed The Promise of Amazing. A lot of people didn't enjoy it, but I thought it was such a cute contemporary.
Where The Stars Still Shine & Golden have been on a lot of lists this week so I'll have to make them must reads for this year.
Great list! Happy New Year! 😀

I love comments!
